In 1978, Gilbert Baker of San Francisco designed the first iteration of what we now come to know as the PRIDE rainbow flag. While the original flag was an eight-colour version, the meaning behind the existing colours remains the same today. In rainbow order, the meaning of each colour is as follows: red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, indigo for harmony/serenity and violet for the spirit or soul.
Forty-three years later, countries around the world proudly fly rainbow flags during Pride Month, as the flag itself remains a symbol of hope and acceptance. Here at Avron, in keeping with our firm belief in treasuring and promoting inclusivity for all, we are happy to celebrate PRIDE month!
